The purpose of this essay is to help me remember the vision that captivated me at the beginning of Agapi and to convey this vision to users of Agapi.The vision is this: A young man or woman will sit at the edge of their chair on a day they are feeling lonely and they will decide they are ready to find a partner. They will pick up their phone and download Agapi. Then, they will answer a set of engaging questions on Agapi (in voice or text). And they will have no barrier to their matches because its free to signup and&nbsp; their profile will be shown to everyone who like people like them. The only barrier being their willingness to pay to speak with their new found mutual match. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; To pick up the phone as the first step to finding a life partner is a profound idea. Without much reflection, one might look down at this possibility. However, we cannot look down on the idea that it takes years for people to find their life partner. During this search are hours in throes of loneliness; time wasted on companions and not potential life partners; and temptations to pursue short term relationships. Agapi's mission is to shorten this period significantly.&nbsp;

Imagine the phone promised to be the fastest way to connect people afar but it didn't &nbsp;work well? My researched back understanding is dating apps are this way. Majority of people believe dating apps makes it easier to find a partner, but people(men and women alike) are leaving the apps (en masse) because they are not finding a partner and are preferring to meet potential partners through in person events.&nbsp; Imagine the world went back to the pigeon carrier system because early versions of the telephone didn't work well. Meeting through in person events is analagous to this-- it is less effecient and&nbsp; effective.&nbsp; The reaction to technology that doesn't work is not to go back to the slower forms but to build better technology.&nbsp; Agapi focuses to build the phone of finding ones life partner: To build the fastest way for people to find their life partner.

Perhaps there is a technology limitation. That is, dating apps can't add a country of origin filter, because then they would have to show all countries of all continent. I believe there's a high percentage chance they won't. I see no reason to continue to pay for their service and continue to be frustrated. Agapi uses Natural Language Processing of Large Language Models to allow you to specify your culture preference so you are not shown people from countries of origin you don't want to marry.&nbsp; The second reason I started Agapi is because I learnt through analytical research and conversations with people that dating apps were ineffective in connecting people. Majority of Dating app users are not finding a mutual match.&nbsp;The core work of matching depends on the algorithm of dating apps. The data suggests current dating apps are ineffective. Popular dating apps have been found to show &nbsp;popular profiles to more people and the less popular profiles to less people, or they try to predict who you are more likely to match&nbsp; based on your undisciplined swiping rhythms, or simply keep secrets of their matching algorithms.&nbsp;Agapi uses a science based approach to matching. Agapi matches users whose answers to value questions are similar. We know from scientific studies that similarities in value predict marriage longevity and satisfaction. Secondly, we match users whose preferences closely match each other( in age, income level, religion e.t.c). We are more likely to commit someone when they meet our ideal match. Lastly we know attractiveness matters in matching. We know people who marry each other have been found to be objectively similar in attractiveness level, so we ask users to rate the attractiveness of potential matches, and prioritize those people on their levels first.This is our algorithm: &nbsp;Value similarity + Mutual Preferences+ Similarity in Attractiveness level.&nbsp; &nbsp;Agapi is different because we allow for specificity in culture preferences when no dating apps don’t and because we use scientific based algorithms when other dating apps use convoluted and ineffective algorithms.&nbsp;
